New Regulations on 1. Online Renewal of Driver's License (Brief Edition)
According to the notice published in the Official Gazette of Thailand on 5 September 2025:
Those who meet the following conditions can renew directly online without going to the Land Transport Department:
The original driver's license expires not more than 1 year
The renewal applicant is not more than 55 years old.
The new rules will come into effect 180 days after the publication of the government gazette.
What are the new changes in 2. online renewal of driver's license?
The Thai Government Gazette has published Ministerial Regulations 2568 (2025) on the Application, Issuance and Renewal of Driving Licenses (No. 2).
According to the regulations, eligible applicants can renew their loans online without the need for on-site processing and without the need for vision tests or reaction tests (physical function tests).
The following conditions apply to online renewal:
Renewal of private car driver's license or motorcycle driver's license only.
Applicants are not more than 55 years of age; if they are more than 55 years of age, they are still required to complete physical function tests in accordance with the original regulations.
The original driver's license has not expired or has not expired for more than 1 year.
When will the new 3. regulations be implemented?
